About RPM

Introducing
Responsibility-based Performance Management

The RPM program addresses a problem common to businesses everywhere:

  • Managers are typically moved into leadership positions based on technical rather than leadership skills.
  • They then flounder in their people management responsibilities, which often require an entirely different skill and talent set than the ones that caused them to be moved into the leadership position in the first place.

As a result, they use what they have, their personality. Some by nature favor the

  • Too Hard side of the continuum where they are willing to sacrifice good will and positive relationships to get the job done.
  • Most will favor the Too Soft side choosing to avoid conflict due to a lack of training or talent and the fear of alienating employees upon whom their success as a manager is based.

Quality work is the result of having a "Set Up For Success" and positive relationships.  RPM is built on the basics of all good performance management:

  • Build positive relationships with each interaction
  • Establish good goals and clear expectations
  • Monitor progress towards them
  • Recognize good performance
  • Bring accountability to less than acceptable performance.

What Is RPM?

RPM is leadership and manager skill training that supports effectiveness and profits by teaching leaders to  balance positive relationships with getting the job done. We train people managers in:

  1. Goal Setting and Goal Management
  2. Positive Recognition and Feedback to shape preferred workplace performance
  3. Coaching For Excellence
  4. Accountability - Consequences VS Punishment
  5. Inside-Out Leadership Training - Who You Are Is How You Lead

RPM eliminates the inconsistencies of personality driven performance management and builds the systemic expectations that ensure the training gets used. It translates the talent of Emotional Intelligence into the principles, protocols, and scripts that all your mangers can use to be more positive and more effective in leading their teams and driving company initiatives.
